Puebla, Puebla, 2 de mayo de 2011. Es por todos conocidos que el 10 de mayo es el Día de la Madre, pero pocos saben que ese es también el Día Internacional del Lupus. Por este motivo, la Fundación Lupus de Puebla hace una invitación abierta para que este domingo 8 de mayo, a las 17 horas, asistan al zócalo de la ciudad todas las personas interesadas en participar en una reunión de intercambio de opiniones, experiencias y de retroalimentación sobre el tema.
Una enfermedad poco conocida/subestimada o: Lupus en el Sector Salud
Solamente, la Fundación Lupus tiene registrados alrededor de 300 casos, pero cifras reales sobre esta enfermedad no existen. El lupus es desatendido por el Sector de Salud a nivel local, estatal y federal. Mientras el gasto en seguridad nacional ha subido un 200 por ciento durante este gobierno, el gasto en salud y educación no ha aumentado un 2 por ciento. Además del problema de presupuesto, el lupus no es catalogado como una enfermedad catastrófica, por lo que los tratamientos de ésta no son considerados prioritarios.
El tratamiento de esta enfermedad llega a ser muy costoso cuando los mecanismos de detección y protección son prácticamente inexistentes. Este es el caso no solo de esta enfermedad, sino de muchas otras como cáncer y disfunción renal: “El gobierno no prevé; es más barato prevenir una enfermedad, es decir, atenderla a tiempo, que cuando se agrava”, destaca Socorro Vera la directora de la Fundación Lupus de Puebla. “Al mes, un tratamiento de prevención puede costar mil 500 pesos, cuando la enfermedad avanza un medicamento puede costar tres mil pesos. Incluso, hay inyecciones que tienen un costo de 80 mil pesos, y el tratamiento es de dos inyecciones por semana. Los hospitales nos dan aspirinas e inmunosupresores, pero no el tratamiento que necesitamos verdaderamente”.
La Fundación Lupus señala la necesidad de campañas de prevención y de detección de la enfermedad, ya que esto disminuiría el avance de la misma. Recientemente, el sistema de salud sufrió reformas, ahora no es necesario que dirigentes de las Secretarías de Salud sean médicos; ante esto, varias críticas señalan que los problemas del Sector Salud se agudizan debido a la falta de conocimiento de las personas que lo dirigen. “Necesitamos que el gobierno abra un programa para lupus como existe para obesidad, VIH, etc.”, señala Socorro Vera.
Para finalizar la entrevista que nos otorgó la directora de la Fundación Lupus, señala que los problemas en el Sector Salud no sólo son a nivel local y estatal, sino federal y subraya la necesidad de atención que la enfermedad Lupus requiere.
